Starting a social community membership site is good business.  I have found that there is no better bond you can make with members than by allowing them to take control of the membership and feel ownership of the community.

Free Social Community Memberships

There are many ways to start a free membership community online these days.  My personal favorite is Ning.com.  It is probably the most complete and user-friendly social community platform out there right now.

It has taken my blog to another level and given me a much stronger bond with my members, prospects and customers.  I attached my Ning site to my blog at Friday Traffic Report.  I now have forums, groups, and video and photo uploading sections.  All of which produce a surprising sense of community you just don’t get from blog comment activity alone.

Below is a video showing how I set up my free community and attached it to my blog, and some insights as to why this works so well to bring people into my paid membership sites.

    Jack,

Thanks for paving the way on social marketing and community building.

This is very timely. I’ve been having conversations about doing this same thing in my niche.

I’ll look forward to active participation and learning here too.

    Zen-like sign off…

    Namaste,

    Walt
