Your membership site does not have to end with your home page.  Often membership website owners will start a weblog, or “blog,” which can be used to simply share ideas and experiences.  Online marketers, well, the smartest ones, have begun to use their blogs to not only share ideas, but to make extra money as well.  What are these bloggers doing differently?  Several things, actually, that have turned simple blogs into money machines.  Here are some very basic things that the most successful bloggers have figured out:

Market Yourself:  Well, if this isn’t really the most obvious first step, I don’t know what is.  Use that blog as your own free advertising, for marketing your products and services available through your membership program.  Often, people who regularly visit and read blogs are passionate about looking for membership sites and membership solutions.  You will generate a whole lot of new business by getting at that target audience and holding them captive by convincing them you have the best membership software available!

Market Someone Else:
Go ahead, promote someone else’s products or services.  It’s easy to develop and arrange an affiliate relationship that provides you with a commission.  Sell someone’s book, or product, that’s related to your business. Many, many businesses offer a click-through payment program that can really add up for you.  Think about the members that will be directed to there from your recommendation…..

Sell Advertising Space:  There’s no reason to not use space on your blog to sell advertising.  You can make a few cents per ad, which really adds up with a lot of traffic, and, without doing anything you will see the dollar signs appear.

Keep Your Members Up To Date and Get More Members:  Use your membership site blog to both keep current members up to date as well as teasing non-members with the cool stuff that’s inside your membership site.  Talk on your blog, publicly, about something inside and even link to it so members and non members will click the links.  Your members get in, and the public get stopped with a "Sorry you must be a member, click here to join" type of message.

This works wonders in driving new members and a blog is a powerful way to launch this tactic.

These are just a few simple ways to boost your membership and grow your business.  Provide the information that your members are looking for, and use your blog as a way to communicate with them and show them the best way to run their own online businesses.  Your member solutions, the ones they’ve already subscribed to, will help you turn your simple blog into a really profitable venture.  Just watch the money pour in!
